I bought my computer with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office Home and Student almost exactly a year ago. Last night I went to open one of my assignments and everytime I try to open any word documents, it gives me the error “There was a problem sending the command to the program.

I also read to uninstall and reinstall the program and I don’t have the discs to do this since it came on my computer. Also, all of my Word documents do not look like a Word document anymore but instead are white pieces of paper with grey writing that say docx. I also cannot open Microsoft Word, I click on it and nothing happens.

I downloaded the guided help and then tried to open a document and tried to open Word and nothing happened. I tried doing some of the manual things but I constantly get the error that the address isn’t right that I type in. This is very frustrating Mukherjee Ashutosh. If the Word program is opened, not opening microsoft office word 2007 there was a problem sending the command to the program free document directly, and left open, I am able to wogd click on a document and open it OK. I have tried a repair, I have tried removing and reinstalling Office, no change. I have also tried setting Word to run as an administrator, but hte made no difference.

If yes then you need to update the print driver, or contact your printer manufacturer to uninstall and reinstall the print driver as there might be some corruption in the print driver. Only one can be invoked by double clicking on file. Normally that would not be Starter. There are several different ways you can reset the proper file associations.

Word itself provides a way to do it. Open a command prompt window and, at the command line, enter the following:. This invokes part of the installation process. It is good for all apps in the Office bundle. Word will reregister itself back in Windows. You can close the command prompt window and double-click on a document; Word should start right up.

Note: You may have to adjust the path to the EXE to match your installation. Verify the path before running the command. Close the app. The quotes are necessary, but you may need to change the path so it reflects the location of the winword.

This command causes Word to rewrite all its Registry keys and to reassociate itself with document and template files. Now you can double-click a document file and see if Windows starts Word and opens the document. Make sure the path is correct for your installation.
