I assume I’ll still ahve to do some manual repointing even with the new settings? Been doing this for the past twenty five years Mauro Huculak, you’re doing a great job out here, a thanks wouldn’t sum it up. Appreciate the feedback! I don’t understand why there’s not a default, easy way to do this. Users are promised some great cloud storage with OneDrive, but their files don’t even save there by default!

You’re right, there should be an easier way. But now it already defaults to OneDrive during a fresh install of Windows. And I can tell you, it will annoy the crap out of a lot of people, me included. Many games and programs save their stuff in Documents folder. Saves, mods, all sort of content. My Documents folder has some 50GB. Is there a way to copy over-write this existing profile to the Default User Profile.

Here is Microsoft’s answer. Thanks for your response. This is based on the copyprofile command which has been deprecated. I have found some other articles that are helping but I still have a ways to go.

This article is also focused on creating a new image. I don’t want to create an image, just modify the Default User Profile. Thanks again. As it turns out, this is probably going to be a lengthy task with separate processes for the Start menu, Taskbar and Desktop. I will be looking at using the Desktop article you attached. I mount the wim and modify it there as well as modify the run once registry key, a la how OneDrive installs.

Please note since the xml is applied to the default profile, it will be applied only to new profiles on that machine.
